Engine | Transmission #S55 and the whole thing in a BMW E36?

The newest addition to the AnimalRacing project, the S55 and its E36 chassis, present a new challenge that once again puts our skills to the test. This task proves to be anything but a plug-and-play solution. Initially, the project seemed feasible, but it soon became clear that extensive modifications would be necessary.

Once the powertrain was finally in place, it became clear that much more work was needed. Balance of Performance was at the top of the list of challenges. Daniel, our engineer, refused to design a standard solution with simple engine mounts. In his opinion, the engine had to be moved lower and further back; otherwise, the project was doomed. Our client was surprised and questioned this decision.

Daniel explained the situation succinctly: The project only makes sense if we respect the fundamental physical principles of a real motorsport car. Otherwise, we might as well put the engine on the roof – the car would probably behave the same way. So it was clear: Either we approached the project with the necessary care and common sense, or we abandoned it altogether.

This new challenge at AnimalRacing demonstrates that true innovation and peak performance often require deep technical considerations and bold decisions.
